Apparently there are a couple of people that read my blog and especially our Media Director, who has been advising me that a new one is overdue. So,
Where have I been?
Actually I have been in Anaheim, CA (beautiful weather) attending the National Sheriff’s Conference, where I was able to renew friendships and meet other new Sheriff’s and Deputies and talk about the Project Lifesaver program. I have many great memories from attending these conferences in the past – one is talking with the current members of Project Lifesaver and finding out how they are doing and helping to solve any problems they have. The reassuring part for me is that every one I talked with was extremely glad to be in the program and excited about the community interaction and connection it was creating.
After Anaheim, I went to Louisville, KY to attend the Pilot International Conference. For those who aren’t as familair with Pilot International, it’s a service organization focused on ‘protecting the brain for life’. It’s a wonderful community, full of energetic people who are truly motivated in every way. I spoke at their general meeting (approx 1100 people) and was elated at the reception they gave me. I also had the privilege of speaking with many of the members during the conference at the Project Lifesaver table in the exhibit hall, where I learned all they are doing to make Project Lifesaver a reality for so many communities throughout the country. Thank you for all you do!
I relay this information to let you know how much I enjoy traveling and visiting those who participate in our program, and remind everyone of all those who have joined forces to save lives and protect those at risk of wandering. It’s important to remember that we’re not alone in this endeavor, and as these populations continue to grow, working with others and teaming with national organizations will be even more important. Making moves to get out in the community and letting others know what we are doing will be the best way to grow this program, as we continue to move forward.
So! Now I’m back for a few days and I’ll make every attempt to post more often and keep you up to speed on Project Lifesaver!
