Project Lifesaver International has received additional grant funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance that the federal grant for the Missing Alzheimer’s Patient Assistance program.
Under this grant, a Project Lifesaver Agency could receive transmitter assistance which includes a transmitter, 12 month supply of batteries and bands, and a tester for someone with Alzheimer’s disease that they would like to have in the local PL program. Individuals that are approved will also receive a “wandering kit” from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America with a DVD and brochures on Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving. The grant has available funding for up to 50 new Public Safety agencies that would like to join Project Lifesaver, but have not been able to afford to do so. The grant covers the basic start-up equipment, the basic training course, an instructor certification course, and travel expenses of the instructor. Agencies that desire additional information about this grant should contact Tommy Carter for the grant application form and basic information about the grant. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and the first 50 agencies that are approved will get the grant.
