Chief Saunders,
I would like to personally thank you
for the Project Lifesaver National Exceptional Service Medal.
This is an honor that I will cherish and will attempt to live up
to in the future. You have given me the education and the
direction on how to help others that are having to deal with a
loved one that has Alzheimer's. Project Lifesaver is a
luxury that my family and I were not able to take advantage of
since Dad went through it before the program was established.
You have given me "peace of mind" in that you allow me to go and
teach agencies about the program so that they may in turn give
"peace of mind" to others in their respective areas. You
have also shown me that Alzheimer's is not the only disease that
affects families as far as having loved ones wandering or
children that bolt and run. This has caused me to research
and learn about Autism, and Down syndrome so that I can be
accurate and helpful when I am asked questions.
I wanted you to know that you have
given me a purpose, a goal, and the ammunition to achieve that
goal. With my career starting to wind down in the
Sheriff's Office, I was looking for a challenge to keep me going
forward. This program has given me a purpose as well as
the challenge, which is what I needed and it has been great for
me.
The other treasure is to be able to
work with a great group of people that are all working towards
the same goal. I feel honored to be allowed to work with
them.
Once again, I would like to thank you
for this award and as I have told you before, I am here and if
you need something or need me to help, all you have to do is
give me a call and I will be there. Thank You.
Sincerely,
Tommy Carter
