Project Lifesaver International & Vitals™ Aware Services Are Proud to Announce a Strategic Partnership

This important partnership will enhance the quality of interactions between at-risk individuals and first responders; improving the outcomes of search and rescue missions involving the most vulnerable


(March 15, 2019 – Port St. Lucie, Florida) In order to more effectively serve and protect individuals with various conditions and disabilities, Project Lifesaver International and Vitals™ Aware Services are teaming up in an effort to bring together advanced locating and critical client information technologies that will provide a safer experience and more favorable outcomes of interactions occurring between first responders and vulnerable individuals, more especially interactions occurring during search and rescue operations.

Both organizations are working closely on the model and eventual launch of an integrated program that will provide full-circle elopement protection, as well as enhance the current procedures and abilities for locating lost Project Lifesaver clients and returning them home safely.

Project Lifesaver International and Vitals™ Aware Services understand the many challenges that individuals living with intellectual, developmental or mental health challenges, their caregivers, and first responder agencies face, that’s why we have joined forces, to help better protect those vulnerable individuals, improve their quality of life, and help provide just a little more peace of mind.

This combination of technologies is thought to be the most effective solution to special needs search and rescue. Project Lifesaver is a 501 (C) (3) community based, public safety, non-profit organization that provides emergency responders and caregivers with the equipment and training required to protect and, when necessary, quickly locate individuals with cognitive conditions that cause the propensity to wander, such as those with Alzheimer’s or autism. About Vitals™ Aware Services

Vitals™ works by equipping authorized first responders, educators and providers with information voluntarily provided by Vitals™ enrollees. First responders, educators and providers then receive access to the Vitals™ service on their cellphones. The service allows a vulnerable person to register online, then wear a beacon that takes the form of a keychain, necklace, debit card or bracelet. An Android phone can also serve as the beacon. When a Vitals™ user comes within 80 feet of an authorized first responder equipped with the service, the responder will get a notification about the person’s diagnosis and how they may best interact with them.

The Twin Cities-based tech company developed the app-based service in partnership with The Autism Society of Minnesota. The service was launched in August of 2017 in St. Paul. Vitals™ is also partnering with PACER Center, the Arc Minnesota, Wellness in the Woods and Hammer Residences to build awareness and promote the service to potential users and their families.
