Project Lifesaver International Announces the Release of the PLI 3000, the Newest and Most Effective Tool in the Search and Rescue Toolkit for “At-Risk” Individuals with Cognitive Disorders

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., May 13, 2011)- Project Lifesaver International, an innovative 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization that provides safety, security, and rescue support services to “at-risk” individuals is proud to announce the release of the PLI 3000. The PLI 3000 is our newest and most effective tool for search and rescue of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, and Down syndrome who are at constant risk to the life threatening behavior of wandering.

The PLI 3000 is the latest generation of radio frequency tracking receivers. The PLI 3000 is compatible with all existing Project Lifesaver search and rescue equipment and transmitters currently deployed in the field.
The PLI 3000 operates off of a 9-volt battery and has the capability to work in the 215-218MHz bands. The range of the PLI 3000 is approximately one mile in on-the-ground searches and 5-7 miles in searches by helicopter. The Project Lifesaver transmitting wrist or ankle bracelet emits a Radio Frequency signal every second, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a full 30 days, which means caregivers only need to change batteries once a month.

“We’re very proud to be able to offer this state of the art technology that will help protect residents who are at risk to the dangers of wandering,” said Gene Saunders, Founder and CEO, Project Lifesaver International.
Chief Saunders continues, “By deploying the PLI 3000, along with our other Project Lifesaver technology, training, and program, countless man-hours that are generally required in traditional search and rescue operations will be significantly reduced along with any chance of a tragic outcome.

Project Lifesaver utilizes Radio Frequency technology because this is the tried and true technology of choice by law enforcement professionals for this specific type of search and rescue operation because, unlike cellular and GPS technology, its signal does not rely on fragile cellular networks or satellite signals that are weather dependent. Radio Frequency technology is reliable and can track an individual who wanders during adverse weather conditions, in water, in a densely wooded area, in a concrete or steel structure, or in a building.

These clear advantages are recognized by law enforcement professionals who are on the front lines of this serious security issue. “The technology employed by Project Lifesaver is a tremendous tool for law enforcement. Utilized to help locate wanderers suffering from autism and dementia related disorders, our use of Project Lifesaver equipment has saved precious time in locating these most vulnerable citizens,” said Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Palm Beach County, Florida.

The PLI 3000 can be used interchangeably with either an Omni or a Yagi antenna depending on the situation. A Yagi antenna is a unidirectional antenna and an Omni antenna is an antenna which radiates power uniformly in all directions. The Yagi antenna configuration uniquely combines with the PLI 3000 receiver to create a compact single unit allowing the operator to free up one hand while searching

Project Lifesaver will continue to deliver state of the art technology and highly effective tools and training to the public safety agencies that are responding to “at-risk” individuals including those with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, and Down syndrome and their caregivers.
